I'm retired I have all the time freedom one can imagine and its boring - unfulfilling. You need to nave a purpose, meaning to life, and the health and income (wealth) to support all your ambitions and dreams.
I fill my life with business development, self development, plans for travel and to secure a life free to too many concerns about the future or day-to-day issues. To be able to help others and leave a legacy.

If I was in this position, I would use my time, mind and life to devote and share my futures with others who are hungry, without homes, food or a friend. Being selfish is not in my book, I would reach out to those who need me and would appreciate my sincere concern for my fellow man or woman. It's not about me, or you but all of us!

Obviously there's nothing wrong with assisting people who are less fortunate.
But it's not an "either/or" equation.
It's not "selfish" for someone to want to live in a nice home. Or drive a nice car. Or wear nice clothing.
It's not "selfish" for someone to want to actually have a savings account for the first time in their lives. Or to have investments.
It's not "selfish" for someone to want to travel the world that we live on and see things they've never seen.
On the contrary: it's our birthright.
So, YES, assist those who are less fortunate. YES, donate money to worthwhile causes. YES, support organizations that are part of the solution...
But to claim someone is "selfish" because they want to live a prosperous life?
That's an offensive position that ignores the fact that we cannot help anyone until we help ourselves first.
My perspective, Tony Rush
